In a brazen violation of the State government’s orders to suspend classes for three days in view of severe heat wave, some corporate schools remained open, incurring the wrath of student organisations.

District Educational Officer (DEO) R.S. Ganga Bhavani, said that the Department of School Education has served notices on Oxford Public School and Ravindra Bharathi School in Brindavan Gardens asking why their registration should not be cancelled after finding that classes were being conducted for students of Class 10. The department personnel also seized books being sold on the school campus.

Some leading corporate schools remained open on Tuesday, and were later asked by the DEO to send the students back. Some of the school managements said that they were not aware of the memo by the School Education Ministry till Tuesday morning.

Action sought

Meanwhile, SFI district committee secretary V. Bhagwan Das slammed corporate school managements for not giving a hoot to the orders of the State government and putting the students’ health at risk. He also demanded action against the Mandal Education Officer for allegedly colluding with the school managements.
