The Prakasam Police have chalked out an action plan to tackle cyber crime, as offenders of late have been taking the online route to cheat unsuspecting people.

Analysing trends in crime, Superintendent of Police Ch. Srikanth said special training would be imparted to CLUES/Cyber Team members to make them thorough with Facebook, Whatsapp and other latest Internet-based applications to nail down tech-savvy culprits.

Wrong choice

Maintaining that investors in the district had lost Rs. 36 crore by investing their hard-earned money in fly-by-night firms, he said: “We will launch a vigorous campaign in the new year to create awareness among public and remind them of the dangers of putting their money in firms which promised very high returns.”

Expressing concern over the increasing number of road accidents in the district, Mr. Srikanth said he had set for his colleagues a target of reducing deaths in accidents by at least one for each police station.

“We will undertake a special drive to curb drunk driving in the new year,” he added.

Speedy justice

Mr. Sikanth said two Deputy Superintendents of Police would probe cases under the SC and ST (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act to ensure speedy justice to victims.

“Successful handling of law and order during the Samaikyandhra stir was a major achievement during 2014. So is the peaceful conduct of simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly,” he maintained.
