G. Ravi Kumar, a constable attached to anti-human trafficking unit in the city, was arrested on Thursday on a rape charge. He was placed under suspension by Superintendent of Police K. Raghuram Reddy.
Mr. Ravi Kumar was produced in the court and remanded for judicial custody.
The II-Town police registered a case against Mr. Ravi Kumar following a complaint of rape by a 23-year old physically challenged and pregnant woman. The victim in her complaint alleged that she was subjected to intimidation and rape by the constable after a raid on her house in which her mother was arrested on the charge of running a brothel.
The constable allegedly went to the victim’s house after the raid and threatened to implicate her in the case along with her mother if she failed to oblige his demand.
