The leaders of YSRC gathered in full strength to take part in a day-long protest demonstration at the District Collectorate here on Tuesday when they accused the ruling Congress party and the Telugu Desam Party of conspiring against their party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

The YSRC leaders took strong objection to the denial of bail to Jagan though he completed one year in jail on Monday. They said that there was prolonged delay in granting bail to Jagan regardless of the fact that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was not able to find any evidence in the illegal assets case.

The protest demonstration was organised responding to the party’s call in view of Jagan completing one year in jail. Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Udayagiri MLA Mekapati Chandrasekhara Reddy, Kovur MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy, district president Meriga Muralidhar, city convener Anam Venkataramana Reddy and others participated.

Mr. Rajamohan Reddy came down heavily on the ruling Congress leaders, saying that they were creating lot of problems for the YSR family which would ultimately boomerang on them. He pointed out that in the by-elections recently, it was clear that the people were sailing with the YSRC and that their sympathies were with Jagan.

Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Mr. Venkataramana Reddy launched an attack on the Anam group in Nellore, saying that they had no moral right to criticise Jagan going by their background. The YSRC leaders asserted that the Anam brothers had resorted to corruption in almost all the work being carried out in the district and an investigation should be ordered.

The YSRC leaders challenged Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy to a public debate on the issue of corruption.

YSRC leaders and functionaries observed a day-long hunger strike in front of YSR statue on Kadapa Collectorate road alleging that YSRC president and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had remained in jail since the last one year due to political witch-hunting by using the CBI as a tool.

The YSRC protesters burnt an effigy of CBI alleging that it was hounding Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy by acting on the diktats of the powers that be and was filing a series of charge sheets to ensure that he continued in jail. Party MLAs K. Srinivasulu and A. Amarnath Reddy charged the Congress with making a mockery of democracy by acting with political vindictiveness against its detractors. The State has now regressed to the pre-2004 days when there were crises in the sectors of power, water and agriculture, he said.

YSRC activists led by district convenor Narayan Swamy and Chittoor assembly constituency in-charge A.S. Manohar staged a moun deeksha in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday to protest against the ‘illegal confinement’ in jail of their president and Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy.
