‘CPI will not accept proposals like Rayala Telangana’
Terming the ensuing public meeting to be organised by the Telangana Congress leaders on June 30 in Hyderabad as a "ploy" to derive “political mileage” by the ruling party leaders, CPI State secretary K Narayana has charged the Congress party with using the Telangana issue as a “political slogan” for its narrow political gains.
The Telangana Congress leaders are holding the meeting just to eulogise their party president Sonia Gandhi without any commitment for the cause of separate Telangana, he alleged.
Addressing the party’s district executive meeting held in Kothagudem on Friday, Mr Narayana alleged that the Congress party was pursuing opportunistic politics by adopting double standards on the separate Telangana issue. The CPI will not accept any alternative proposals like “Rayala Telangana,” he said reiterating his party's demand for creation of separate Telangana that existed before November 1, 1956. Mr Narayana said the party will organise agitations in front of all excise offices in the State on July 1 in protest against the State government’s new excise policy.
“The government is hell bent on extracting money from people by indiscriminately promoting the sale of liquor at the cost of public health,” he alleged. The party will form a strong contingent of 10,000 “redshirt” volunteers under the aegis of Jana Sevadal in connection with the birth centenary celebrations of the veteran Communist leader late Chandra Rajeswara Rao.
The CPI State committee will organise a convention against the proposed steep hike in LPG price in Hyderabad on July 11. CPI senior leaders Puvvada Nageswara Rao, Siddhi Venkateshwarlu, T V Chowdary, Kothagudem MLA K Sambasiva Rao, the party district president B Hemantha Rao and others were present.
