Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the Congress stood exposed by sending representatives from Seemandhra and Telangana to the Group of Ministers meeting on Telangana and speak in two voices against its own CWC decision on bifurcation.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Naidu said his party’s stand that the Congress’ decision on bifurcation was on political considerations had been vindicated as the latter spoke in different and convenient voices showing its utter lack of commitment and clarity.
He justified his party’s boycott of GoM as it served no purpose when the ruling party had already taken a decision and wanted to rub it on other parties.
In fact the GoM’’s so-called all-party meeting has been reduced to a farce with leaders of political parties invited individually and asked to make presentations in 20 minutes flat. Can such a complex and sensitive issue of bifurcation be decided in such a manner, he wondered.
It was nothing but insult to all Telugus and all political parties from Andhra Pradesh should have boycotted the meeting, he said and wondered why the YSR Congress, which swears by Samaikayandhra, attended the meeting when the GoM’[s terms of reference were all relating to bifurcation. It only means YSRC had gone there to keep Y. S. Jagan’s benefactor, AICC president, Sonia Gandhi who got him bail, in good humour.
‘JACs ignored ’
He also sought to know why PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana met the Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde, secretly.
To a question on TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao, Mr. Naidu said he would not comment on a leader who changes his stand between breakfast, lunch and dinner. He wondered why the Centre was reluctant to call joint action committees and stakeholders from the two regions for talks even at this late stage before proceeding further on bifurcation.
He had written three letters to the Prime Minister and two letters to the President on this issue but there was no response.
Does the Centre think there are no sensible and seasoned people in the State which has given two Presidents, one Prime Minister and ensured formation several Congress and non-Congress Governments at the Centre?
CBI chief criticised
He criticised the CBI Director, Ranjit Sinha’s comment against women while suggesting that the Government legalise betting in cricket and said it was a sad reflection on the functioning of the Central Government itself.
