Expressing dissent over the neglect of Tirupati parliamentary constituency, besides a multitude of pending projects and issues, Congress party cadre organised a protest at the local RDO’s office, here on Monday.
Former Member of Parliament Chinta Mohan, accompanied by hordes of supporters, raised slogans and criticised the “negligent attitude” of the government in addressing problems in the city, particularly the projects that were sanctioned “due to his efforts”.
He was particularly vocal at the inaction pertaining to the 7000 house sites for poor women, the international cricket stadium, NTPC-BHEL Power Projects Limited factory at Mannavaram, Dugarajapatnam port, Cancer Hospital and Institute of Obstetrics.
“We are here to fight for our rights. While we got the above projects sanctioned, the centre and state are neglecting them. The loan waiver for farmers and DWCRA women has remained a non-starter and the official apathy is pushing them to desperation,” Dr. Mohan asserted.
The former MP further flayed the Railways for taking over the Idgah land and also blamed the TTD for suspending its employees in an arbitrary and indiscriminate manner. He termed the recent decision to hike the price of LPG cylinders to Rs.1000 as “anti-poor”. Town Congress President Nagabushanam, Chittoor District Congress President Venugopal Reddy and District Mahila Congress president Prameelamma took part.
