Meeting for integrated State will not be allowed: Madhu Yaskhi

Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi has said that the public meeting proposed in support of an integrated State at Lal Bahadur stadium here on September 7 will not be allowed to take place.

“How can they hold the meeting? Who will give permission?” Mr. Goud questioned, addressing a ‘meet the press’ programme organised by Telangana Journalists Forum here on Wednesday.

Another Congress MP, Ponnam Prabhakar, also spoke.

They expressed hope that the next elections in 2014 would take place in Telangana and Andhra as two States. The Congress took an irreversible decision to bifurcate the State.

The decision was taken by none other than the supreme body of the party – Congress Working Committee. The party did not consider Rayala Telangana or Hyderabad as Union Territory.

‘Change of leadership is not the answer’

Asked why the Congress leaders did not seek change of guard as they nursed a grouse against Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy that he had obstructed a separate Telangana, Mr. Madhu said change of leadership was not the answer and what was required was speedy implementation of the decision. Now, that Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was discharged from hospital and attending to his work, the process would hopefully be stepped up.

They said the announcement of the decision had drawn BJP closer to Telugu Desam which was evident from Narendra Modi’s praise for NTR and M. Venkaiah Naidu coming to the rescue of TDP member Harikrishna in the Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, YSR Congress honorary president Vijayamma commenced her fast in Guntur for political gain, they added.

They also said the party would not change its decision even if leaders from coastal districts quit in protest.
