Post-elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is in a mission to attract as many leaders as possible from other parties. And this has began with Congress former legislator T. Narsa Reddy from Gajwel.
As expected, Mr. Reddy joined the TRS in the presence of party secretary general K. Keshava Rao and senior leader T. Harish Rao at Hyderabad on Monday. Several Zilla Parishat Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishat Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and sarpanches along with him joined the party.
From the beginning, Mr. Narsa Reddy has been a close follower of Mr. Keshava Rao in the Congress party and it was stated by political circles that he got ticket in 2009 general elections because of Mr. Keshava Rao.
Even before the elections it was rumoured that Mr. Narsa Reddy may join the TRS but the party was of the view that a triangular fight at Gajwel will be an advantage than direct fight. As expected, Narsa Reddy fought the elections on Congress ticket and polled 33,998 votes while TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao polled 86,372 votes and TDP candidate V. Pratap Reddy 67,154 votes. The majority secured by Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao 19,218, less than the votes polled by Mr. Narsa Reddy, speak volumes about ‘political game’ played by different players in different parties.
At the same time the TRS has not hidden its agenda. “This is the beginning and Mr. Narsa Reddy joined the party to develop Gajwel assembly constituency. From now on, more leaders will join from one party or the other across the region,” Mr. Harish Rao said.
