Union Minister for Law and Justice M. Veerappa Moily, who is in charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday said the high command had not tried to split the family of the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, as was being alleged.
Mr. Moily was answering queries by journalists here on the charges made by the late YSR's son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy — who has quit the Congress — that the party high command had tried to split his family by making his uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy a Minister in the Andhra Pradesh government.
Mr. Moily said Mr. Vivekananda Reddy had displayed his loyalty to the Congress and followed the tradition established by his brother, who was loyal to the party that made him Chief Minister twice. On the contrary, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy betrayed the party, which had tolerated him for the past 14 months despite the newspaper and television channel owned by him airing anti-Congress views, Mr. Moily said.
