TJAC Chairman M. Kodandaram has said that the youth in Telangana region are slowly losing confidence over the Congress’ announcement of the formation of a separate Telangana State as there is no visible progress so far.

The TJAC Chairman made the statement after hearing the news of a woman attempting suicide in Pedda Kaparthi village of Chityal mandal on Monday morning. He was addressing a seminar organised at Mahathma Gandhi University (MGU), Nalgonda on the theme of ‘The role of students in reconstructing Telangana’. Asking the Telangana Congress leaders to mount pressure on the Congress High Command to expedite the formation of Telangana State, Prof. Kodandaram held the Congress particularly Telangana Congress leaders responsible for suicides in the region. Instead of pressurising the High Command to complete the process of formation of Telangana State, he accused the Congress leaders from Telangana region of lobbying with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to get their personal work done. Later, he took part in a protest organised by Telangana Journalists Forum (TJF) at Clock Tower Centre against the arrest of two journalists of Z 24 Gantalu News Channels for airing news against DGP V. Dinesh Reddy. The TJAC Convenor urged the Centre not to extend the term of Mr. Dinesh Reddy in the position of State’s top cop as he was facing corruption charges.

He also demanded that the Centre take up investigation against all allegations levelled against Mr. Dinesh Reddy transparently.

Demanding that the government release the two arrested scribes after withdrawing false cases filed by the DGP with immediate effect, he said the TJAC would extend all possible support in getting justice for the two arrested journalists.

He later visited the Government General Hospital to console the family members of Potlapalli Mamatha (24), who attempted suicide, demanding Telangana State.
