Plans of some local Congress leaders to continue their political legacy by fielding their heirs from the city fell flat with the high command on Monday announcing tickets for others.
Goshamahl MLA and Minister Mukesh Goud and Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav were prepared for a showdown with both aspiring to field their respective sons from Musheerabad. Even sitting MLA Manemma wanted the ticket be given to her son.
While the sitting MLA attempted to secure ticket quietly, Goud and Yadav came out in the open unveiling their future political plans for their wards.
At one stage, the Minister reportedly said he would contest from Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat aiming his guns at the sitting MP.
Finally, none of them could get a seat for their family members and instead former Congress leader P. Siva Sankar’s son P. Vinay got the ticket. Former Chief Minister Marri Channa Reddy’s son and Sanathnagar MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy also planned for the political debut of his son Aditya Reddy from Sanathnagar if the party leadership considered him for Chevella Lok Sabha seat.
Ticket denied to RaoInterestingly, former Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy and P. Shankar Rao, representing Maheswaram and Secunderabad Cantonment constituencies, were denied party tickets.
While Ms. Sabita had a solace that her son secured ticket for Chevella Lok Sabha seat, the political future of Mr. Rao remained uncertain.
Shows empty hand to T-JACThe high command also showed an empty hand to leaders of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (T-JAC). Having promised to accommodate considerable number of persons from TJAC in poll fray from their party, the Congress gave only one ticket to a leader of Osmania University Students JAC, Krishank, from Secunderabad Cantonment.
Disappointment was also in store for another student leader Daruvu Yellanna and employee leaders Gajjela Kantham and Addanki Dayakar.
