The sudden death of YSR Congress Party leader Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy left the rank and file of the party, particularly in Kurnool district, in deep grief.

Survived by her husband Nagi Reddy, two daughters and a son, Ms. Shobha Nagi Reddy was a popular leader not only in the YSR Congress but outside too. Tipped for a key Cabinet post, including that of Home Minister, in the event the party romped home in the ongoing elections in Seemandhra (AP), she always smiled away the probability when it was raised by the party cadre and newspersons.

Mr. Nagi Reddy, who was in the private hospital along with his children where she was admitted, fainted when the doctors declared her dead. The children were inconsolable and the situation was heart-rending in the hospital where party supporters and others broke down on hearing the shocking news.

Honorary president of the YSR Congress, Vijayamma, was in tears when she reached the hospital. Leaders of different political parties, several film personalities and others made a beeline for the hospital.

Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy termed her “elder sister” who was with him in his difficult times a very strong party leader. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, who is on a visit to Delhi, expressed shock at the death of the sitting MLA in the road accident.

Assembly Speaker N. Manohar, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, Jai Samaikyandhra Party president N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, BJP Telangana unit chief G. Kishan Reddy, Lok Satta Party founder Jayaprakash Narayan, TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, APCC chief N. Raghuveera Reddy, Union Minister K. Chiranjeevi, and CPI (M) general secretary for AP P. Madhu expressed shock and heartfelt condolences at the sudden death of Ms. Shobha Nagi Reddy.

Film personalities Raja, Manchu Lakshmi, Manchu Manoj, Rajasekhar, Jeevitha and several others also paid tributes to Ms. Nagi Reddy at the hospital. M.V. Mysura Reddy, Nannapaneni Rajakumari and several others expressed their grief.
