A computer language lab named, ‘Pega Centre of Excellence’ was inaugurated in Sri Vishnu Engineering College here on Friday, synchronising with a two-day Techfest, Valiant 15.
The techfest, attended by 600 students from three States, will last for two days under the aegis of Sri Vishnu Institute of Technology (VIT)
Speaking at a function in this connection, Soumya Narayan Ramanujam, vice-president of Virtusa, a business operations solutions company which founded the lab in collaboration with the VIT management, said the centre was aimed at training students in Pega software language ala Java course.
Those trained in the Pega language course would have an edge in the job market, he said.
He predicted a bright future for the Pega language in the computer field in the next 3-4 years.
Over 20 students from Sri Vishnu Group of Engineering Colleges received placement offer letters from Mr. Soumya Narayana.
M.S.R. Murthy, a spokesman of the Sri Vishnu Institute of Technology, said those who received offer letters would be posted in the language lab to work as trainers.
