Communal tension at Mudhole

February 09, 2014 02:00 am | Updated May 18, 2016 06:58 am IST - ADILABAD:

The communally sensitive Mudhole mandal headquarter in Adilabad district witnessed tense moments on Saturday following the discovery of a carcass of a piglet on the premises of the local Jama Masjid early in the morning.

Six arrested

The potentially explosive situation, however, was brought under control thanks to the prompt action of the district police, who took into custody six suspects.

A large number of devotees gathered at the mosque located near the old bus stand in order to protest the desecration of the place, which resulted in tension in Mudhole and Bhainsa towns.

Police contingents from Nizamabad, which is nearer to Mudhole than the district headquarter, first reached the spot followed by an additional force from Adilabad.

The police used the dog squad from Adilabad to trace the miscreants though it took the local suspects into custody based on their activities.

The shops in town opened in the afternoon.
