Making it clear that the State government was committed to according BC status to Kapus without affecting the existing reservation framework, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday advised members of the community not to fall prey to individuals who were disturbing law and order in the name of caste.

Election promise

“I have made a promise to the Kapus in East Godavari district during the election campaign. As part of implementing the promise, we have constituted the Kapu welfare corporation with an initial funding of ₹1,000 crore. We have also constituted the Justice Manjunath Commission to study the socio-economic conditions of the Kapus. The Commission is expected to submit its report very soon,” Mr. Naidu said addressing the ‘Maha Sankalpam’ here.

He said there was no compromise with regard to implementing the poll promises.
