Reiterating the State government’s commitment to according BC status to the Kapus, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that an exercise was in progress to include Kapus in the BC list without affecting the existing reservation set-up. “No other political party has the commitment for uplift of the Kapus except the Telugu Desam Party. Some forces are trying to divert the attention of the Kapus by making attempts to create ruckus out of non-issues. Beware of such forces and be with the TDP,” Mr. Naidu told the Kapus during his road show in the city.
Ahead of the elections to the Kakinada Municipal Corporation, Mr. Naidu, along with his Cabinet colleagues and BJP leaders, launched road show in the city from Nagamallitota junction and launched a tirade against the Opposition YSR Congress Party. “The language and the conduct of the Opposition leader are highly deplorable. How could he seek my killing in the public? What could he do to the public, if voted to power?” Mr. Naidu asked in an emotional tone.
Unveiling the State government’s plans to develop Kakinada as a smart city, Mr. Naidu said that in addition to the existing two ports, one more port would be established in the city to provide livelihood to thousands of youngsters. “We are keen on improving infrastructure and facilities in the city. There is huge scope for developing the city on all fronts and we are committed to it. Don’t let the negative forces to ruin the fortunes of this city, but cast your vote to the TDP candidates,” he said.
Admitting that there were some mistakes in choosing the candidates for the local polls, the Chief Minster urged the public to look at the party, but not the candidates. “Our candidates are with clean image. None of them has a criminal record and they never involved in any anti-social activities. Don’t let the cricket betting gangs and counterfeit currency gangs to rule the roost,” he said in a sarcastic tone.
Loan waiver
Mr. Naidu said the government was fulfilling its promises made to the public during the general elections one by one. “We have paid three instalments of farm loan waiver and released ₹6,000 each to the women self-help groups. Plans are afoot to release the next instalment of farm loan waiver and another ₹4,000 each to the SHGs,” he said, while calling upon the SHG members to work on a par with the TDP cadre to make the party win the local body elections. “Don’t give a chance to anti-social elements who are eager to make Kakinada another Pulivendula,” he said.
