Sri Venkateswara University Vice-Chancellor W. Rajendra was conferred with the honorary rank of Colonel at a ceremonial function held here on Friday. NCC Deputy Director-General Air Commodore S.R. Gharpure and NCC Group Commander (Tirupati) K.J.M. Roy bestowed the honour on Prof. Rajendra along with a letter on behalf of the Directorate-General of National Cadet Corps (D-G NCC), New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Roy described Prof. Rajendra as a distinguished academician with several accolades such as the Best Teacher Award, Andhra Pradesh Scientist Award and the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship.
