Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone of a five star hotel ‘My Fortune-Guntur,’ the 144-keys upscale hospitality destination here. Chairman of the ITC Y. C. Deveshwar, one of India’s largest multi-business enterprises, Group Head, Agri and IT Business, S. Siva Kumar and MD ITC Hotels Nakul Anand were present. Mr. Naidu sounded the gong placed on the stage after unveiling the plaque.
The hotel would be coming up on a prime location on Ring Road, on an expanse of over 1.44 acres, with facilities including a 5,000 sq. ft. pillar-less ballroom that can accommodate upto 500 guests, an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant showcasing ITC’s culinary excellence, a bar and a deli.
In addition, the Wellness Zone will be equipped with a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a world-class spa.
The hotel is expected to commence operations in 2019 and is aimed at attracting high end business travellers and provide Guntur a top-end hospitality destination.
Addressing the gathering comprising of leading industrialists, hoteliers, the CM said that the hotel would be coming up in the core capital area and would give a boost to the growth of tourism and hospitality sectors in the state. Seeking the cooperation of ITC Chairman Deveshwar in bringing investments into the state, he asked the group to tap the potential of opportunities in tourism, agri processing, service industry. Aquaculture has been a major source of revenue in AP, he said urging the ITC group to invest in shrimp culture. The ITC Chairman, was profuse in his appreciation of Chief Minister, calling him a man with a Midas touch, and saying ‘whatever he touches becomes gold.’
Mr. Deveshwar said that the development of Amaravati as the Capital would symbolise the growing fortunes of the state and sought a suitable land for setting up a luxury hotel in Amaravati.
“ITC Limited has been working with the farmers of AP spread over 1,900 villages for over 100 years providing 52 million man hours. Now, as the fastest growing FMCG brand, we are ensuring safety in all food products in compliance with European standards which tests for 465 chemical residues,” Mr. Deveshwar said. ITC –ILTD Divisional Chief Executive Sanjiv Rangrass was present.
