Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is indifferent to the “illegal” projects being built by the Telangana Government, former MP and YSRC leader Anantha Venkatarami Reddy has said.
Andhra Pradesh was dependent on the Krishna and the Godavari waters. The Palamuru Ranga Reddy and Dindi lift irrigation projects taken up by the Telangana Government would lead to desertification of Rayalaseema. But the government was not bothered about the issue, he alleged at a media conference in Kurnool on Thursday.
The Chief Minister was furthering his political interests at the cost of the farming community, Mr. Venkatarami Reddy alleged. YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had forewarned that bifurcation of the State would rake up inter-State water disputes, but the powers-that- be ignored the impending problems, he said. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy would take up ‘jala deeksha’ in Kurnool from May 16 to 18 to protest against the unauthorised projects taken up by TS, he said.
