CM for replicating Kuppam drinking water model in A.P.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asked officials to explore the feasibility of replicating Kuppam drinking water model across the State and involve corporates and industrialists under the CSR initiatives in the projects.

At a review meeting with Panchayat Raj Department on Tuesday, he said: “There can be no compromise on drinking water supply to every household. Work out a model that can be incorporated under the NTR Sujala scheme.” He asked officials to make drinking water available by involving corporate, companies and industrialists under CSR. Asking the officials to focus on completion of roads by ensuring , he said: “every village should have a proper (cement) road and those villages connecting to the main roads can have BT roads.” Meanwhile, officials informed the Chief Minister that nearly 13,921 km of roads need to be upgraded. He suggested to them to transfer nearly 5,000km of road laying work (under their department) to R&B Department.

Stating that the State will fix standard rates for cement, the Chief Minister said that sand could be procured through the sale from DWCRA women. “Rates will be standardised across the State to avoid discrepancies,” he added.

Reviewing the status of solid waste management, the Chief Minister told officials to work on models to recycle segregated waste or transport waste to the “Waste to energy” plants in every district and also work on creating vermi-compost pits in every village (to convert bio-degradable waste to bio-fuel). He sought officials’ inputs on the best models for construction of bio-toilets. “There will be no compromise on this. Every house should have a toilet,” he said.

Aerial survey

Vizianagaram Correspondent adds: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will make an aerial survey of the ongoing works as part of Thotapalli irrigation project in Garugubilli mandal , on Wednesday. After inspecting the spillway works, he will hold a review meeting with the project officials at Thotapalli guest house.
