Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday confirmed that the State government is planning to set up an industrial corridor in the district, covering the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary (KWS). The sanctuary is home to endangered species of the ‘Fishing Cat.’
Addressing the gathering after offering special puja here, Mr. Naidu said: “We will request to the Central government to allow industrial activity in the sanctuary area.”
“Hamsaladeevi is the most ideal location as industries that will come up in the area will have easy access to the port of Machilipatnam. Construction of the Bhavanipuram-Ullipalem bridge across the River Krishna near Hamsaladeevi will be completed by early January 2017, promising better road connectivity to Machilipatnam,” said Mr. Naidu.
The Chief Minister also expressed his resolve to develop the scenic Hamsaladeevi into one of the best tourism centres in the State.
Mr. Naidu, accompanied by top officials, undertook an aerial survey of the KWS before landing at the Hamsaladeevi ghat.
The Chief Minister said measures would be taken on a war-footing to address drinking and irrigation water needs of the Diviseema region
Later, he interacted with pilgrims. Mr. Naidu thanked students for their services during the ongoing Krishna Pushkarams. Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad and Irrigation Minister D. Umamaheswara Rao were among those present.
