Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called upon the 25 lakh–plus Non-Resident Telugus (NRTs) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to join hands with the A.P. Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) formed by the State government for mutual benefit.
He requested the NRTs to explore investment opportunities in the State and promised to take care of their welfare for which a fund of ₹40 crore has already been created.
Addressing a gathering of NRTs organised by APNRTS in Dubai on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said he had prepared a vision document and needed the cooperation of all Telugu people settled abroad. He said priority is being given to establishing air connectivity with global cities and wished that a direct flight is introduced from Dubai to Amaravati.
APNRTS is studying the problems faced by NRTs in the Gulf countries for taking necessary action for their welfare, Mr. Naidu said, adding the APNRTS was encouraging NRTs interested in becoming entrepreneurs in their native State to go ahead with their plans and extending the requisite support.
