:Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said that the Central government has not been supportive to the cause of the State over the issues of special category status and railway zone.
Mr. Naidu made these remarks at a public meeting at the village on “Neeru-Chettu,’’ on a day when Minister of State for Home H.P Chaudhary said in New Delhi that the 14th Finance Commission had not made any recommendations to grant special category status to any of the States.
‘Lagging behind in growth’
“Even after some accelerated development in the State, we are still lagging behind in the growth. There is a difference of 1.3 per cent in the growth rates of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,’’ said Mr. Naidu.
Earlier, the Chief Minister made a strong pitch for rainwater harvesting pits and gave a target of one lakh rainwater pits for the district.
‘Dig up pits’
Mr. Naidu urged public representatives to take up digging of pits as as a mission. He said that along with “Neeru-Chettu,” the government was also taking up the “Panta Sanjeevani” programme in a big way.
The Chief Minister said that after completing the Pattiseema project, interlinking of Godavari and Krishna rivers, the government would take up interlinking of Krishna-Penna rivers.
Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his nod for a water grid project.
