Expressing confidence in NDA’s strong footing, BJP senior leader M. Venkaiah Naidu made an appeal to the people of residual Andhra Pradesh to give a clear verdict in favour of the BJP-TDP alliance so that it would be possible to put the crisis-ridden State on the path of development and prosperity with the help of future government at the Centre.
He criticised the YSR Congress and the Congress, stating that same DNA runs in both parties and they were incapable of bringing in any development.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said that a wide range of problems would arise for AP in the coming days and a great deal of support was needed from the Central government. “If the region sends more MPs on behalf of NDA, it would be possible to demand and get all promises implemented for the progress of Seemandhra,” he added.
Mr. Naidu said that the support from the future Prime Minister would be required for extending special status to AP from 5 years to 10 years, new capital, development of industries, creation of jobs, IIT, IIITs and Information Technology and Investment Region. He wanted the people to elect the four BJP and 21 TDP MP candidates in the region.
Mr. Venkaiah Naidu recalled the bifurcation struggle waged in Delhi, saying that there were 25 Seemandhra MPs and all of them had failed to assert themselves to get a better deal for the region. Had all the MPs spoke with a strong voice, Seemandhra would have been on a stronger footing than the present crisis situation in terms of budget and resources, he said.
Stating that Congress may tie-up with KCR after elections, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said that both the parties had no credibility and their desperation was evident from the fact that KCR was making provocative statements as a last-ditch attempt.
Mr. Naidu asked Sonia Gandhi to explain to people as to why herself and her son Rahul Gandhi did not speak a word about Seemandhra during the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill 2013 in the Parliament. “It is surprising that Sonia Gandhi is now asking where KCR was when the bill was debated,” he said.
