Poster issue creates a rift between the two actors
The void between Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder president N.T. Rama Rao’s heirs seems to be widening if the comments of cine actor Nandamuri Balakrishna were any indication.
“Jr. NTR has to explain why YSR Congress leaders were using his (Jr. NTR’s) photographs in their flexi-boards,” he said at Komaravolu village, Mr. Balakrishna’s grand parents’ native place, near here on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Mr. Balakrishna expressed the view that Jr. NTR should have raised objection to the YSRC’s move because his silence would send wrong signals to the people and Telugu Desam cadre.
None is above the party.
Jr. NTR cannot cross the lakshman rekha either.
The party would seek a clarification if he failed to condemn the YSRC’s moves, he said.
‘No support for YSR’
On the other hand, Mr. Balakrishna said, the YSRC seems to be in dearth of a leader with a face value. Hence, they were using photos of TDP founder president. Had there been popular support for Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, they would not have depended on NTR’s photographs, he said.
Responding to a question, Mr. Balarkrishna said: “I never asked the party cadre to stay away from Jr. NTR’s programmes in Vijayawada. It’s a sheer misconception.”
Mr. Balakrishna participated in the signature campaign launched by the party against the power tariff hike at Komaravolu.
He is scheduled to visit Tiruvuru Assembly constituency on Sunday and unveil statues of N.T. Rama Rao.
