Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse clashing Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samiti activists at the Rachabanda programme that was organised at Kollapur in the district here on Tuesday.

Mukkudigundam Sarpanch Lokesh Yadav, Rampur Sarpanch Balaraju and several others suffered minor injuries in the incident. Trouble broke out when TRS activists demanded that the authorities remove the photograph of the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy from the banner that was placed on the stage.

Rachabanda organising committee member and Congress leader Jaffer said it was an official programme and insisted on placing the Chief Minister's photograph.
