Many students studying at municipal schools in the city are passing with flying colours with some of them securing the top 10 grades in the SSC examinations for the academic year 2017-18, thanks to new resources being provided to them, such as the introduction of career foundation programmes.

Such programmes provided the students with an understanding of the skills they needed to acquire.

Special drive

In a bid to create greater confidence among parents, the Nellore Municipal Corporation has taken up a special drive to felicitate the meritorious students who have excelled in SSC examinations.

The move is also seen as a step to encourage parents from lower and middle income groups to admit their wards to municipal schools without worrying about the quality of education . It will also inspire students taking up the SSC examinations next year.

Mayor Abdul Aziz said that various new resources were being provided to the students at these schools and this included like introduction of career foundation programmes to give these students an understanding of the skills they need to acquire. Parents were beaming with confidence as their wards were showing good results now.

Harichand, Hemanth, Harshini and several others were some of the students who showed excellent results in this year’s SSC exams. The Nellore Municipal Corporation felicitated meritorious students at a function held at RSR Municipal School at Stonehouse Pet here recently.

The major objective of the municipal authorities was to sustain the trend of good results and compete with their corporate counterparts.
