Markapur Municipal Commissioner M . Ravinder Reddy and five others were killed and nine others injured in a road accident near Markapur in Prakasam district in the wee hours of Monday.
Mr. Reddy, a Group I officer, was returning from Hyderabad when a private bus hit a cement-laden lorry between Tokapalle and Gobbur, DSP G. Ramanjayneyulu said. The other victims were identified as Satyavati(45), Tirupatamma (60), Brahma Reddy(50) Venkatesulamma(50) and V. Ramanamma (23).
In another accident in Khammam district, a fruit vendor D. Vijayalakshmi( 35) was killed on the spot and two others, including a four-year old-boy, were seriously injured when a lorry with a load of granite rammed into roadside fruit stalls on the outskirts of Thallada.
