Life goes on: A family trying to dodge the rain during a spell in Vijayawada on Friday.

After several days of dry weather, Vijayawada received a good amount of rain in the last 24 hours owing to the revival of Southwest monsoon. Many parts of the city were drenched as rain continued to pour intermittently from Thursday night.

A 20 mm rainfall was recorded by the Metrological Department. As a result, life was hit on Friday morning with office-goers and students struggling to keep up their schedules.

Power outages

Traffic snarls were witnessed at a few places due to logging of water on the roads and power outages were reported in some areas.

There was a respite Friday after noon, but the weather continued to be inclement and the officials took notice of the developing of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to trigger a fresh bout of rain.

In fact, most parts of Krishna district have been under a wet spell for more than a day, prompting the authorities to be on a high alert.
