CID grills Alok Kumar for 10 hours

May 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - Bengaluru:

A day after the State government placed senior IPS officer Alok Kumar on suspension, the Criminal Investigation Department, which is probing the illegal lottery scam in the State, questioned him for nearly 10 hours on Sunday over his alleged links to illegal single-digit lottery kingpin Pari Rajan. The former Additional Commissioner (West), who arrived at the CID headquarters on Palace Road around 10.30 a.m. in his official car, is learnt to have acknowledged his links with Rajan. He, however, denied knowing or helping in Rajan’s illegal business, sources said.

During the 10-hour-long questioning, sources said CID sleuths found Mr. Alok Kumar to be a tough nut to crack and he did not contradict with his stated version of events. Mr. Alok Kumar was confronted with material to indicate his collusion with the lottery kingpin and questioned his claim of ignorance.
