Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will formally launch the commercial operations of the facility developed approximately at a cost of Rs.1,250 crore.

The facility is billed as the largest chocolate manufacturing plant across Asia Pacific and will be the sixth manufacturing plant of Mondelez India in the country.

Spread over 134 acres, the facility has annual production capacity of close to 2.5 lakh tonne, employing about 1,600 people. The products manufactured at the Mondelez facility would be used to cater to the domestic markets as also contribute a major share in the company’s exports.

Hero Motors facility

The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the first phase of production plant of Hero Motors at the Sri City the same day.

The State government had overcome all the legal issues to establish the plant in Chittoor district and allotted land to the company.

Hero Motors has committed to invest around Rs.1,600 crore in three phases in the facility which is expected to create 1,500 jobs directly and another 2,000 indirectly.

The first phase of production is likely to commence within two years with an annual capacity of five lakh vehicles.

The government is hopeful that the plant will give fillip for setting up of ancillary units to cater to the requirements of the main plant.

Isuzu Motors operations

Mr. Naidu will also inaugurate the first phase of commercial operations of Isuzu Motors Pvt. Ltd on April 27.

Located on 107-acre land, the first phase had witnessed investment to the tune of Rs.700 crore, which in turn generated 400 jobs.

Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu and Isuzu Motors president Yutaka Katayama are expected to be present during the inaugural function.

The company, according to the government, would initially produce 50,000 vehicles a year with a majority of them being D-Max (lifestyle) and D-Max (commercial) category vehicles.
