Rajya Sabha member K.Chiranjeevi has reportedly expressed concern at the delay in filling up of nominated posts in the State and sought due recognition for the former Praja Rajyam leaders in the appointments. lo Mr. Chiranjeevi called on the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday and discussed the issue along with the pending works in Tirupati constituency, which he had represented till some time back before his elevation as the Rajya Sabha member.
Sources said the actor turned politician during his meeting lamented that there was some sort of disappointment among the former PR cadres. “I request you to kindly consider the services of the former PR leaders and cadres, who had worked hard and followed me when the party was merged in Congress,” he is said to have told the Chief Minister. It is understood that Mr. Chiranjeevi wants his close aides and senior leaders of PR to be nominated to various posts before he is reportedly inducted into the Union Cabinet. “At the time of merger of PR, Congress leadership had promised that weightage would be given to our cadres and leaders. I want them to be considered for suitable posts. We have a number of former Ministers and senior leaders, who had joined my party in the last elections,” he was quoted as telling Mr. Reddy. It is learnt that Mr. Chiranjeevi even referred to instances of his former PR colleagues shifting their loyalties to YSR Congress party after they were not recognised in the Congress. It may be mentioned here that Mr. Chiranjeevi had time and again expressed his displeasure that former PR cadres were given short shrift ever since they joined the Congress. The Chief Minister reportedly asked him to furnish a list of aspirants.
