Activists of Visalandhra Mahasabha on Saturday shouted slogans at Union Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi demanding his resignation when he arrived at the Ministers’ quarters at Banjara Hills for a meeting of Ministers from coastal and Rayalaseema districts to chalk out their future strategy.
Initially, about 25 of them went to his house at Jubilee Hills where they were informed that Mr. Chiranjeevi was in a conference on tourism at a star hotel. After contacting his boss over phone, the Minister’s secretary also told them that Mr. Chiranjeevi was willing to see them at the Ministers’ quarters after the conference.
Mr. Chiranjeevi promptly left for Ministers’ quarters later where his car was stopped by the crowd at the entrance. When he got down from his car, Mr. Chiranjeevi was heckled by the crowd asking him to resign, but he shot back at them asking if the bifurcation would stop if he stepped down. He took their representation and left as police intervened.
The Mahasabha issued a press release condemning the stand of Mr. Chiranjeevi though he claimed to be an integrationist.
