Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram offered prayers at the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara in the wee hours on Friday accompanied by his wife Nalini, son Karthi Chidambaram, daughter-in-law Srinidhi Karthi, and other family members.
On his arrival at the main entrance, he was received with the traditional Isti Kapal temple honours by the priests and the officials and led into the sanctum sanctorum. He stood in front of the presiding deity for about ten minutes and later offered prayers at the sub-temples inside. While the temple priests showered Vedasirvachanams on him and his family members at the Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the temple, TTD chairman K. Bapiraju and Joint Executive Officer K. S. Srinivasa Raju presented him with laddu prasadam along with religious books and CDs.
Later, after a brief stay at the Padmavathi guest house, he left for Tirupati.
