Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram expressed the hope on Wednesday that the Centre could convene an all-party meeting to discuss the Telangana issue if the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and the YSR Congress conveyed their stand by December-end or early January.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had already taken their stand, he told journalists here.
“We expect that the remaining four political parties, including the Congress, will be able to make up their mind, say before the end of December, to enable me to call a meeting of all Andhra Pradesh parties as early as possible…I am confident that they will make up their mind by December,” he said.
If the Centre got their views, it could convene the meeting by December-end or in January. “I sincerely hope so. Two meetings were held on 5th of January, 2010, and 6th of January, 2011. January looks like a good month...”

The backwardness of some parts of the country cannot be solved by creating more states.
India has no democratic institutions with law making powers beyond the state and central governments. Most of the members of District and Local bodies are at the mercy of the state government to even get there monthly salary let alone have a budget for development.
Indian bureaucracy was designed by the british to wield absolute power over the local poulation rather than oriented towards the local development. No other developed
democracy has the IAS or equivalent who are the designated gods of the district, even the elected representatives are at thier mercy to get any development funds.
The only way for India going forward is to strengthen the District and local democratic instituions to take care of the local problems that can eventually lead to equitable development of all parts of India.
We cannot have separate state every time a politician wants to create a new CM position for himself.
telanganites laughing at congress people comments, and hope on democracy till 2014. january looks like good, but feb, march will fallow it. is it?
Apologies upfront but Chidambaram became a thick skin politician too. Azad and Chidambaram shamelessly give dates and keep extending them. I wish their balls get a little stronger and they take a stand. Yes or No are both acceptable stands. Shaking head in all directions is not a stand and is an invitation to break ones own neck.
