In a blow to Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), its politburo member Cheruku Sudhakar resigned from the party on Tuesday protesting against denial of party ticket from Nakrekal constituency in Nalgonda district.

Dr. Sudhakar went to the TRS office Telangana Bhavan in the morning, garlanded the statue of ‘Telagana Talli’ there and paid tributes with tears rolling down his cheeks. Later, he went inside the party office and handed over his resignation letter to B. Suman, president of student wing of the party, who was present.

Speaking to newspersons, Dr. Sudhakar alleged that the party leadership was preferring only financially sound candidates over those who participated in the movement and those who worked for the party. A doctor by profession, Dr. Sudhakar contested the Nakrekal seat unsuccessfully in 2004. He said he was prepared to contest as an independent from Nakrekal.

Ironically, the TRS organised protests across Telangana in 2011 protesting the cases registered against Dr. Sudhakar, including the one under the National Security Act for participating in the Telangana movement.
