Chennai couple killed in AP road mishap

A couple from Red Hills in Chennai - Prabhakar (45) and Anitha (40) - were killed on the spot and their two teenaged sons were hurt when their SUV hit a roadside tree at Ramagiri village between Pichatur and Nagalapuram mandal headquarters while on return journey on Sunday morning, after paying obeisance at Lord Venkateswara temple.

The Pichatur police told The Hindu that the mishap occurred around 7.00 am. It is suspected that Prabhakar, who was at the wheel, could have dozed off.

The injured sons raised an alarm and passing by motorists called the police, who shifted the bodies to Government Hospital at Chittoor for autopsy.

One of the injured Arun was rushed to the Government Hospital at Nagalapuram.

Another son, who sustained small bruises, was in a shocked condition.

Police have registered a case.
