The villagers of Ramnagar near Kuppam on Thursday beat up a three-member gang from Tamil Nadu for allegedly cheating gullible couples with a promise of providing them a drug to have children.

According to information, the gang - a 50-year-old man, his son (30) and their SUV driver (25) - from Natrampalle of Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, were visiting the rural side on the TN-Kuppam border and luring the couples with no children with a medicine. In August last, the trio visited Kumjagownuru village near Kuppam and took Rs. 10,000 from a couple saying that they would call on it again after a week along with medicine, but did not turn up.

On Thursday morning, the trio visited the house of a childless couple at Ramnagar on the outskirts of Kuppam and tried to play the same trick.

The husband and wife, who incidentally are close relatives of the duped couple of Kunjagownuru, grew suspicious and contacted their relatives who in turn rushed to Ramnagar and beat up the trio.
