Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday spewed fire on treasury benches asking Congress if its members were not intelligent enough and whether they were out to do “exhibitionism” in the Assembly. He made the remarks while seeking a full fledged discussion involving all parties to pay tributes to film star Akkineni Nageswara Rao after the House passed a condolence motion for him. A Congress member from Telangana region, who could not be seen, shouted if similar condolences will also be paid to each of the martyrs in the struggle for separate State. Then, Mr. Naidu also shouted back “tamasha anukuntunnava. Sampradayalu levu neeku. Buddhi ledu neeku, mee party vallaku”.

Initially, Whip A. Mohan and Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy took on Mr. Naidu but TDP deputy leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu countered them vociferously. Then, Revenue Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy put Mr. Naidu on notice about usage of certain words and said he was leaving it to the latter. He requested Mr. Naidu not to set up new precedents.

Mr. Naidu resumed his seat in protest saying it was not him but the Whip who created a controversy. He said he wanted a discussion to acknowledge the contributions of outstanding personalities.
