Prakasam district, with a vast coastline, has the potential to emerge into a logistics hub as envisaged by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Chief Minister unveiled his vision for putting the district on high growth trajectory during the week, by promising development of port-based industries including refineries and chemical units in and around Ramayapatnam under public-private-partnership (PPP) mode.

The district connected by the East Coast highway and Chennai-Kolkata highway could take a quantum leap in growth, Mr. Naidu opined while committing to development of Donakonda into a smart industrial city.

Much ado

about nothing?

All the hype surrounding the visit of officials from Singapore for conducting a survey of the capital region turned out to be a simple affair. Much to the disappointment of the media and local people representatives, the delegation conducted an aerial survey of the proposed region covering Tullur and its neighbouring mandals in Guntur district in a helicopter and the entire exercise lasted less than two hours. Aerial survey was chosen as the government reportedly wanted to avoid any scope of embarrassment to the delegation, in view of resistance from a section of farmers to the proposed land pooling system. After the survey, the team left for Hyderabad in the afternoon. This week, a team from Central government arrived in Vijayawada and visited Mangalagiri to inspect a site for establishing the AIIMS. Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas interacted with the media and disclosed the details about the team’s visit. However, all these visits are keeping the district authorities busy, but it is certainly exposing the lack of coordination among senior officials of different departments.
