Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly, N Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday said, the state administration was behaving in an irresponsible manner, even as people in the flood affected areas were suffering.

It has been about 30 days since the floods ravaged Kurnool and other towns, but the government could not even clear the debris so far, Naidu told reporters here.

People in Karimnagar, Warangal, Visakhapatnam and other districts were falling prey to communicable diseases, but the administration remained indifferent, he alleged.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president alleged that the situation in hospitals was so pathetic that patients were unable to get beds without recommendation.

He said the ministers had failed to discharge their duties effectively. “Rosaiah has grossly failed in pulling up the ministers and making them work. We don’t know what his compulsions are,” the Opposition Leader said.

Telugu Desam was functioning as a responsible Opposition party and would continue to apply pressure on the government for redressal of public grievances.

Meanwhile, the TDP chief demanded that the government provide reservation for Muslims in the local body elections exclusive of the 33 per cent being implemented for backward classes.
