State-run school students get hands-on training at Prakasam Engineering College
It was a dream-come-true for the students of State-run social welfare hostels as they got a rare opportunity to get hands-on training on robotics at Prakasam Engineering College (PEC), Kandukur.
R.S. Praveen Kumar, secretary, Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions, whose brainchild the training programme is, sat with the students and observed their abilities as the training programme got under way.
The objective of the programme is to kindle interest in the latest technologies.
Students will be able to develop software on their own to run different types of robots on completion of training by ARK Technologies till May 24.
In all, 600 students have been selected from 180 APSWR schools across the State for the training programme.
Addressing the students, Mr. Praveen Kumar said robotics have a wide range of applications in defence, health-care, construction and manufacturing and exhorted the students to develop passion for science and technology. “S & T is imperative for the students to survive in ultra-modern world,” he added.
He said the students were in no way inferior to their peers from institutions in the corporate sector. Some of them are on Mt. Everest expedition right now, he said.
PEC correspondent and secretary Kancharla Ramaiah said PEC was happy to associate with the novel initiative of APSWR society.
