The Union Government will extend all possible assistance to Andhra Pradesh to maintain the double-digit growth rate, BJP Mahila Morcha national-incharge and former Union Minister D. Purandeswari has said.
Participating in the ‘Vikas Parv’ (Development Festival) organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Thursday, she said: “The BJP-led Government at the Centre will leave no stone unturned to facilitate faster growth of Andhra Pradesh.”
It was because of unstinted support by the Narendra Modi government, the State was able to overcome bifurcation blues and forge ahead in development during the last year, she pointed out, adding none should doubt the sincerity of the Centre in implementing the Polavaram project as a national project.
She referred to the promulgation of Ordinance to transfer villages faced with submergence from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh immediately after coming to power.
The Centre’s liberal support would make the State's plan to provide cooking gas connection to all households in the State in the next one year a reality, she said, adding the BJP-led government at the Centre was ready to start the Ramayapatnam sea port project in Prakasam district the moment the State Government completed acquisition of 5,000 acres of land for the project.
Describing the BJP’s two years in office as “'Vijay Parv'”, she said thanks to a vibrant fiscal policy evolved by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, India became a fastest growing nation with a growth rate of 7.6 per cent during last year, at a time when the global economy was on the downturn.
State Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao explained that with the 14th Finance Commission recommendations in place, the Special Category Status(SCS) had become relevant. Treating Andhra Pradesh as a ‘special case’, the BJP had asked the Union Ministers to channel more funds to Andhra Pradesh under various heads.
