The CPI has accused the Centre of neglecting the special package for backward areas in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the 14th city conference of the CPI, special invitee and State secretariat member G. Obulesu said though the government had promised incentives for setting up industries and tax holiday, none of them became a reality. He added that the government was delaying the Polavaram project, which was taken up as national project. Mr. Obulesu said the CPI planned to launch an agitation seeking the special package. Party leaders P. Ramachandraiah, K. Ramanjaneylu and S.N. Rasool spoke. Earlier, party activists took out a rally in the city.
