The National Disaster Response Force , the Army, the Navy and the Air force, deployed by the Centre in flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, are still engaged in large- scale rescue and evacuation operations and distribution of food, drinking water and other relief items .

Since Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have also been affected by drought during current year, the Centre has, in advance, released the second instalment of Central share of Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) for 2009-10 of Rs. 156.84 crore, for Andhra Pradesh and Rs. 52.26 crore for Karnataka.

The total Central contribution comprising Rs. 313.67 crore and Rs. 104.52 crore for Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka respectively for 2009-10 stands released as on date, it was officially stated here.

A meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary on Tuesday to review the flood situation in the States of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, in which the Resident Commissioners of both the States were present. The meeting chalked out an action plan to continue providing swift response for providing logistics support for rescue and relief operations.
