Cellphone towers under scanner

November 23, 2014 12:14 pm | Updated 12:14 pm IST - KAKINADA:

Following apprehensions from citizen welfare associations over the impact of radiation from the cellphone towers, the East Godavari district police on Saturday took up the task of inspecting the towers, along with a team of technical experts from the Department of Telecom.

Under the aegis of Additional SP A.R. Damodar, the team inspected towers at Bhanu Gudi junction, Mosque Centre and Jagannadhapuram and assessed the radiation. Experts from the DoT collected readings from different towers and made it clear that the radiation levels were much lower than the prescribed 1,000 Milli Watts.
