CDFD gets samples of Tiwari, two others

June 02, 2012 01:44 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:42 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) here on Friday received the blood samples of the former Andhra Pradesh Governor, N.D. Tiwari, and of Rohit Sekar, who has filed a paternity suit against him, and his mother Ujjwala Sharma.

Mr. Sekhar and Ms. Sharma, Delhi High Court Joint Registrar R. Gopalan and Mr. Tiwari's advocate Maroof Ahmed arrived here in the morning to hand over a sealed cover containing three FTA kits with the blood samples.

As directed by the Supreme Court, Mr. Tiwari gave his blood sample three days ago.

Mr. Sekhar said the test would be done under the supervision of CDFD Director J. Gowrishankar. It would take at least four weeks to get the report, but the Supreme Court asked the CDFD to get it off as soon as possible through a special messenger. “We gave a copy containing the court's directions to lab officials,” he said.

Mr. Sekhar filed the suit in the Delhi High Court in 2008, seeking that Mr. Tiwari be declared his biological father.
