C/C cameras: State to introduce legislation

May 10, 2013 01:12 pm | Updated June 13, 2016 09:35 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The government will introduce a legislation to make installation of closed circuit (C/C) cameras mandatory for private establishments of public gatherings such as malls, cinema-houses and large institutions in Hyderabad and other major cities in the State.

These include Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Tirupati and Kurnool. Indications were available on Thursday that the government, however, was likely to prefer advanced motion responsive video cameras (MRVC) to the conventional C/C cameras for installation.

The MRVC will record the happenings if there is any motion around.

This category of cameras will require, in contrast to C/C cameras, only small hard-discs into which the video data is fed.

Provisions of the draft bill for introduction of the legislation were deliberated upon at a meeting here on Thursday convened by Chief Secretary P. K. Mohanty, which was attended by principal secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development B. Sam Bob, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner M. T. Krishna Babu, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority commissioner Neerabh Kumar Prasad, and top brass of the police.
