A day after she was denied ticket to contest the Assembly election by the Congress high command, former Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy suffered a blow as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) requested a special court here to include her as an accused in the illegal mining case against Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) of Gali Janardhan Reddy. The investigating agency filed a memo in the Principal Special Court for CBI Cases including her as the eighth accused in the case last week. However, the matter came to light only on Tuesday.

In the memo, the CBI said Ms. Sabitha Reddy was equally responsible for sanctioning mining leases to OMC on Antaragangamma Konda at Obulapuram in Anantapur district in violation of the procedures laid down to provide undue benefits to the mining company.
